A Flower for You

This year we planted dahlias and peonies.  The peonies did not really work out.  I am hoping they come back next year, but I’m not holding my breath.  However, the dahlias seem happy.

I am really a terrible gardener; more of a black thumb than a green thumb, but I do like pretty flowers and yummy veggies.  They just don’t like to grow for me.  So, the fact that these flowers are doing well makes me happy and should mean that ANYone can grow these.

I love these vibrant colors.  Oranges and reds have been on my mind lately.  We had our first apple pie in months yesterday.  Fall is imminent–yay!

  1. You’re not a terrible gardener! Look at those pretty dahlias you grew! 🙂

  2. Did you put the peonies in a sunny space?

    • Yes. It was weird. They came up just fine and even produced a couple of buds, but then turned black and died. The buds did not even get a chance to fully bloom. I hope they return next year.

      • If this was the first year for the plant in that space, then I could see why it did not bloom so well. Next year be ready with a tomato cage to stick in the ground once the sprouts are about a foot high. You will be happy you did.

  3. Lovely dahlias!! The Philadelphia Dahlia Show was at Longwood Gardens last weekend… they had some truly huge blooms!! I’m going to try some of the larger cultivars next year.

Tell me what you think!
